The finer the vine, our 4 favorites

Wine, sunshine, riverside views… sounds like a pretty good recipe for a holiday, doesn’t it?

With our licence-free river boats you can take to the water, slow things down and explore at your own pace – with plenty of opportunities to hop ashore and discover local vineyards and winemakers along the way.

The best bit? There’s no need to choose between being out on the river and enjoying a great glass of wine. Simply moor up, step ashore and start exploring. After all, what could be better than swapping the engine for a vineyard and the river breeze for a wine tasting?

So, ready to raise a glass along the way?

Here are 4 stops worth adding to your wine-and-water itinerary:

1. Château de Santenay
Burgundy

Setting off from our Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune base, after a short cruise along the Canal du Centre through the Côte Chalonnaise, we glide right up to the Santenay mooring. A short walk through the vines from where we’ve moored, and we’re inside the cellars of this historic estate, tasting a brilliant Chardonnay or savouring grand names (like Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, or Clos Vougeot Grand Cru).

2. La Maison des Vins du Minervois in Homps
Canal du Midi

Cruising along the Canal du Midi, we stop over at the port of Homps, a former historic hub for the wine trade on the shores of Lake Jouarres. Just a stone’s throw from the pontoon, the Maison des Vins du Minervois opens its doors for a fantastic tasting of sun-drenched local gems.

3. Château de Mercuès
Lot

Cruising along the Lot river from our Cahors base, we moor on the right bank just upstream from the lock. A two-kilometre signposted path through the village leads us straight to Château de Mercuès, the former residence of the count-bishops of Cahors, to visit the wine cellars and taste their superb vintages.

4. Cave des Vignerons de Buzet
South-West France

Setting off from our Buzet-sur-Baïse base, the port is literally in the heart of both the vineyard and the village. We moor the boat and in just a few minutes on foot we reach the cellar of the wine cooperative for a tour and a tasting of Buzet wine (AOC – Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, the French certification that protects and guarantees origin and terroir).

And to toast your next holiday, take advantage of our offer for the 2027 season!
