Experience the pearl of the Arctic in 2028

Do you dream of exploring Svalbard’s magnificent wilderness aboard a small ship? We have just wrapped up another fantastic season and are already looking forward to new adventures in the Arctic. We are therefore happy to announce that our Svalbard expeditions for 2028 are now open for booking!

The season begins as the midnight sun returns and the landscape is still covered in snow, before coming to an end with the warm colours and spectacular sunsets of autumn. In between, the Arctic summer brings snow-free, flowering tundra and opportunities for longer hikes.

With just 11 or 49 fellow travellers on board, you are always close to nature. Far from the distractions of everyday life, a very special sense of tranquillity settles over the magnificent polar landscape. Experiencing this pristine wilderness and encountering Arctic wildlife in its natural habitat creates memories that last a lifetime.

Get to know our expedition ships

From May to September, you have the opportunity to experience Svalbard’s magical polar landscapes aboard our four small expedition ships, each with its own unique character. Below, you can get to know our ships a little better.

M/S Stockholm

With space for just 12 guests, M/S Stockholm offers one of the most personal and intimate small-ship expedition experiences in Svalbard and Northern Norway. Originally built in 1953 for the Swedish National Maritime Administration, she is a true piece of Scandinavian maritime history. After a complete refit in 1998, she began a new career as a comfortable and characterful expedition ship, perfectly suited for expedition cruises in the Arctic. To enhance exploration, the ship is equipped with two Zodiacs, and you will be accompanied by two knowledgeable guides with a true passion for these remote regions.

A CLASSIC 12-PASSENGER SHIP LOVED BY MANY

With her beautiful brass details and wooden decks, M/S Stockholm is a stunning piece of maritime history, loved for her warm and characterful interior. With space for just twelve guests, every voyage offers a personal and relaxed atmosphere. The small group size allows flexibility without queuing, quick landings and a strong sense of expedition spirit. The spacious deck areas provide plenty of room without crowds and offer the perfect platform for photography or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery.

ONE OF THE MOST EXPERIENCED SHIPS IN SVALBARD

Boasting more than 25 years of navigating Svalbard’s challenging waters, M/S Stockholm and her Swedish crew know the region like few others and can reach sites that are inaccessible to larger ships. The crew’s genuine enthusiasm for the Arctic’s unique wildlife and pristine environments is central to the authentic expedition cruises offered on M/S Stockholm. It creates a warm and familiar atmosphere that reflects the true spirit of small-ship exploration. Travelling with just twelve guests also makes operations smooth and efficient, giving you more time to enjoy landings and Zodiac cruising. A journey through these northern waters, with their unparalleled wildlife and untouched landscapes, is an experience of a lifetime.

A SHIP THAT FEELS LIKE HOME

Enjoy delicious meals in the homely dining room, then head to the saloon for a drink, a chat with fellow travellers or a quiet moment with the breathtaking views. The food on board is of a high standard, and all beverages are included in the price. The atmosphere on board is informal and friendly – more like being on a private tour than travelling on an expedition ship. The bridge is open to visitors and invites you to visit the captain or simply enjoy the scenery as the ship navigates the icy waters.

COZY CABINS WITH PRIVATE FACILITIES

M/S Stockholm offers six twin cabins, each with private facilities, bunk beds and small portholes. The cabins are simply furnished yet comfortable, providing everything you need for a pleasant stay at sea. After a day of Arctic adventure, your cabin becomes a peaceful retreat where the soft hum of the ship and the gentle movement of the sea lull you to sleep.

M/S Sjøveien

With a maximum capacity of just 50 passengers, M/S Quest offers a truly unique scale for expedition cruising in Svalbard. She was built in Denmark in 1992 to serve as a ferry along the west coast of Greenland. In 2004-2005, it was completely refurbished into a comfortable expedition ship, and in 2018, the passenger areas underwent further renovation.

ADMIRE THE ARCTIC FROM THE LOUNGE & OBSERVATION DECKS

In the dining room, you enjoy delicious meals between landings, while the panorama lounge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. This lounge serves as the venue for entertaining talks about the area’s flora, fauna, and history. It also features a bar and a small library. The ship boasts spacious observation decks for you to enjoy the stunning vistas. The bridge welcomes you around the clock, and there is always something to see or search for. You are welcomed by an international crew, and the atmosphere on board is relaxed and very friendly.

UNIQUE SIZE & ITINERARIES

With a maximum capacity of just 50 passengers, M/S Quest offers a truly unique scale for expedition cruising in Svalbard – small enough for everyone to dine and attend lectures together, yet large enough to divide into smaller groups during excursions and landings. On board M/S Quest, there are five Zodiac boats and five knowledgeable guides. Every Svalbard cruise is one of a kind, with the exact route always shaped by weather, ice conditions and wildlife encounters.

SMALL SHIP – GREAT MOMENTS

Travelling on a small expedition vessel means a relaxed atmosphere, a stronger focus on the destination, and more time ashore compared to a larger ship. On the 50-passenger ship M/S Quest, it’s quick and effortless to board the Zodiacs, and you’ll have the space to truly take in the silence, the scenery, and the wildlife – without the crowds. With her small size, M/S Quest can also reach remote places and fjords that larger ships simply can’t access.

COMFORTABLE EN-SUITE CABINS WITH SEA VIEWS

M/S Quest can accommodate 50 passengers, with all 24 cabins being outside cabins equipped with private facilities. The triple cabins feature upper and lower berths, while all other cabins have either two lower berths or a double bed. Each cabin includes a desk with a chair and a cupboard for storage. The superior cabins are spacious, featuring armchairs and a TV. The owner’s cabin offers a double bed, two large picture windows, a separate seating area, and a TV.
