The February 16-23, 2026, Classic Antarctica Air-Cruise aboard Magellan Explorer will be operated exclusively for Mandarin-speaking guests, with several product delivery adjustments made to menus, presentations, and translations. This departure is ideal for any Mandarin-speaking guests who wish to welcome the 2026 Chinese New Year in Antarctica.

ASENAV, the shipyard that built Magellan Explorer and is building Magellan Discoverer, has been awarded the Sustainability and Environment Award 2025 by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This award celebrates ASENAV’s vision and capacity for innovation. Join us in congratulating our partner on this well-deserved recognition!

** Science on Board Program

On April 28, 2025, at a ceremony held at Explorers House we launched the “Science on Board” program, an exciting new initiative led by the Antarctica21 Foundation . This is a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to advancing science and support Chilean scientists. Using our vessels, the project facilitates the collection of essential scientific data in Antarctica. It has come to fruition thanks to the collaborations between the Antarctica21 Foundation and several leading Chilean research institutions. The launch event was attended by Dr. Carlos Saavedra, Rector of the Universidad de Concepción, and Dr. Osvaldo Ulloa, Director of the Millennium Institute of Oceanography (IMO) at the same university, and other key partners in the project. During the ceremony, Professor Anelio Aguayo, a researcher at the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) and expert in cetaceans, was presented with the 2025 Antarctic Explorer Award in recognition of his
outstanding career.

The Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) has released two updated resources for communication and sales specialists who work in the promotion of Antarctic tourism. The Communicating the Antarctic Experience  guide provides references for effective representation of Antarctic travel. TheTravelling with Influencers guide is designed to help polar specialists identify the needs of influencer guests, with suggestions on how to help them achieve their aims without compromising their obligation to visit responsibly. We encourage all our partners to review these documents and implement their suggestions.
