Blue Lagoon Cruises Fuel Surcharge – Effective From 14 August 2026

Bula!

Blue Lagoon Cruises wishes to inform our valued partners that we have updated the mandatory fuel surcharge (first introduced in April 2026) due to a decrease in Fiji’s fuel prices effective as of the 1st of August 2026.

Why is the mandatory fuel surcharge in place?

The price of diesel in Fiji as of the 1st of August 2026 remains some nearly 30% higher than before global supply issues. The continuation of high fuel prices into August 2026 cannot be absorbed within our current rates and has also resulted in a sharp cost increase across most supplier items including the likes of food & beverage, international freight and so forth.

Importantly for those who aren’t already aware, Fiji’s fuel prices are set by the Fijian Competition & Consumer Commission (FCCC) and is only ever amended on the first day of each month (the most recent amendment being effective the 1st of August 2026). The price of fuel in Fiji is based on a range of factors globally but most noticeably by movement in the Means of Platts Singapore (MOPS) gasoil market, the availability of fuel from foreign suppliers, international freight rates, and foreign exchange rates. Fiji’s fuel prices are always 1-2 months behind fuel prices in other global markets such as Australia, New Zealand and North America, and hence cannot be compared with countries who adjust their fuel prices on an almost daily basis and which have seen the price of fuel decrease much sooner than that of Fiji’s fuel prices.

What are we charging & how will this be paid?

The mandatory fuel surcharge applicable will be reduced to FJ$20.00 per cabin per night (not per person) effective from 14 August 2026, and will be charged directly to the guests’ cabins to be paid onboard at the conclusion of their cruise (along with any other incidentals or items enjoyed during their cruise).  We’d like to thank our guests for their understanding of our need to recover a small percentage of the increase in operating costs.

We would also ask that our Terms & Conditions are noted on any client documentation to cover this surcharge:

While we try our utmost not to increase our prices, this is sometimes outside our control. On that basis, we reserve the right to amend our prices although amendments should occur only in the instance of increases in our costs to deliver the cruise such as but not limited to, fuel costs, government taxes and charges, exchange rate fluctuations, and ground costs beyond the control of Blue Lagoon Cruises and which are deemed material to operations.”
