Following the lead of its Southeast Asian neighbours, Laos has officially opened its borders for international tourism. This is especially great news, as we are finally back on track to launching the first luxury cruiser, Heritage Line ANOUVONG, along with three very exciting itineraries along the Laotian Mekong River!
Passengers experience the Upper Mekong in extravagance while staying in one of the ten intricately designed staterooms, including two spectacular Signature Suites equipped with in-room Jacuzzis and private balconies. Originally scheduled for September 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic, Heritage Line ANOUVONG will embark on its maiden voyage on the 27 August 2023.
Experience Laos Aboard Upper Mekong River Journeys of Various Lengths
Cruises are available in durations of 3, 7 and 9 Nights—all of which featuring dramatic mountainous river landscapes, ancient holy sites, local ethnic villages and rich Laotian culture and heritage. The shorter 3-night itinerary sails between the ancient town of Luang Prabang and Huay Xai on the Thai/Lao border.
However, our most truly anticipated cruises are the longer, unhurried journeys of 7 or 9 Nights. Additional highlights include a full day’s guided exploration of UNESCO-designated Luang Prabang, spectacular Kuang Si Falls, jungle trekking, river kayaking and more. The 7-night cruise departs from Huay Xai toward Luang Prabang, the journey’s mid-point, and disembarks at the capital of Laos, Vientiane—while the 9-night cruise shares a similar itinerary in the reverse direction.

We have received an unprecedented number of enquiries in the recent months for the longer Upper Mekong cruises. Most of our 7-Night journeys have sold out until the end of 2024. Cabin space for the similarly popular 9-Night cruise is filling up as well. Hence, Heritage Line has decided to add additional departures to the calendar:
