MV ORIGIN GETS A MAKEOVER

Our yachts Origin and Theory have always stood out from the crowd, but here at Ecoventura we’re proud to set a high bar for luxury expedition sailing in the Galapagos.

With teak floors throughout to add sophistication and warmth, an enlarged salon on the main deck, and a new jacuzzi up on the sun deck to unwind at the end of a day exploring the islands, Origin has just gone up a level.

They say you can’t improve upon perfection, but here at Ecoventura we like to aim high.

With the only Relais & Chateaux vessels to sail the Galapagos, our two luxury expedition yachts Origin and Theory have always stood out from the crowd.

Each ship has only ten staterooms to ensure an intimate, exclusive adventure around the Galapagos. What’s more, some rooms can be joined to create even more exclusive two-room suites, complete with his and hers bathrooms and a sitting room with floor to ceiling vistas of the ocean and islands beyond.

Our guests-to-guide ratio for our excursions are the lowest you’ll find on any premium vessel in the archipelago, and our warm, energetic and engaging guides are exceptionally well-versed in the history, ecology, geology and culture of the Galapagos. We can even cater for specialty trips such as our ever-popular photography departures.

To stay ahead of the crowds, we are constantly on the lookout for ways to enhance our passenger experience and the quality of our luxury fleet.

With that in mind, Origin has recently spent some time at the shipyard in Guayaquil to have a bit of an upgrade.

As you can see, the work was thorough and extensive – no half measures when it comes to luxury adventure. But we are delighted to say the result has been remarkable.

Origin’s salon on the main deck has been extended to make it even more comfortable and spacious than it was before. With a lounge area where guests gather for excursion briefings, nibbles and drinks, a bar (with an open bar policy for all passengers – the perfect spot for handcrafted cocktails at the end of a busy day), and our dining area, this is the heart of the vessel; a contemporary space to mingle with fellow guests and enjoy the comfort of a Relais & Chateaux vessel.

The bar area itself has been remodeled with new wood and marble installations, although the on-the-house cocktails will be as tasty as ever.

The external flooring throughout the ship has been replaced with teak floorboards, adding sophistication and warmth to each deck, including the sundeck.

And up on the sundeck, we have also added a jacuzzi – moved from the main deck to create more space, and to allow passengers unwinding after a day of excursions to soak in the warmth of the water and rays of the setting sun.

With these changes, Origin will be largely identical to her sister ship Theory, with her relaunch due in the second week of November.

And it isn’t long before a third yacht – Evolve – will be joining Origin and Theory, to complete our fleet of three luxury expedition vessels. Due to take to the water in early January, guests on Evolve will enjoy the same comforts, amenities and locally sourced cuisine as they do on Origin and Theory. The three sister ships will ply the same itineraries, offering more guests the chance to enjoy these remarkable islands in style.
