Refurbishment of the new barge in Scotland

April 5, 2017

Back in January, we told you about the new hotel barge joining our fleet – ‘Spirit of Scotland’ –  which will be cruising the Caledonian Canal and lochs of the Great Glen in the heart of the Scottish Highlands from mid-June this year.

Over the last two months, this stylish ‘steamer-style’ vessel has undergone a refurbishment programme – what we like to call “Scottification”  – in preparation for her first departure on June 18.

There has been a lot of interest in ‘Spirit of Scotland’, both by charter parties wanting to have her all to themselves –  typically a family gathering or a group of golfers of up to 12 people – and by couples booking a cabin who are looking forward to sharing this special cruising experience with other like-minded people.

She is certainly the perfect  vessel from which to admire the stunning Highlands scenery as she glides sedately along, with her sheltered mid-deck and covered dining terrace, as well as a full-length upper sundeck.

Inside, her spacious middle deck feature bright and spacious saloon and dining areas with picture windows, a bar and an integral forward wheelhouse that gives guests an unobstructed view of the route ahead, while the lower deck boasts six fully modern, air-conditioned staterooms, each with an en suite bathroom.

There is also a fascinating itinerary of escorted excursions during the 6-night cruise, including a tour of the Glen Ord whisky distillery and private tasting and a tour of Cawdor Castle and gardens, the setting for Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The cruise route also crosses some of Scotland’s most picturesque lochs, such as Lochy, Oich, Dochfour, and, of course, Loch Ness,  home of the legendary “Nessie”.

There is still availability for some cruises on Spirit of Scotland, particularly in July and August 2017 and we are offering 10% off for both charter and cabin bookings when booked before May 30, 2017.
