This is really exciting! We are teaming up with AdventuresNW Magazine editor John D’Onofrio, and Quicksliver Photo Lab’s Digital Imaging Specialist and instructor, Alan Sanders for an 8-Day Photography Cruise in Glacier Bay.
We’ve been working with John and Alan over the last several months to develop a special cruise for photographers that combines all the excitement of our Alaska trips with hands-on intensive instruction, new techniques for photography, and nightly constructive critique sessions.
If you’ve been on the David B before, you know I’m a complete and total Shutter Bug and having a chance to have two great instructors aboard the David B makes me absolutely giddy! I’m looking forward to this trip as a way to share the beauty and magnificence of Glacier Bay with you, as well as, having the opportunity to learn a whole lot more about how to take great photographs!
Glacier Bay is one of America’s most dynamic National Parks with over 3 million acres of rugged wilderness with majestic mountains, tidewater glaciers, icebergs, ancient forests, and iconic wildlife: sea otters, killer whales, humpback whales, brown and black bears, mountain goats, tufted puffins and bald eagles. Class Details from John & Alan:
In this hands-on workshop we’ll have an opportunity to make photographs in beautiful Glacier Bay. Then we’ll use Adobe Lightroom to bring out the best in your images. We’ll also discuss the use of Photoshop as well as other plug-ins that can be used in conjunction with Lightroom. Once the images are optimized, we will share and discuss the work as a group. Finally, we’ll spend time learning to print our work. Everyone will go home with at least one print – ready for framing – from the workshop.

About the instructors:
John D’Onofrio’s photography has been exhibited throughout the Pacific Northwest in museums and galleries and published in numerous publications including National Geographic Adventure, Trail Runner, Washington Trails, as well as in calendars, note cards and posters.
His work also appears in The Wild Nearby: Finding Beauty and Renewal in the North Cascades (Mountaineers Books), The Salish Sea (Sasquatch Press) and Images of America: Mount Baker (Arcadia Publishing).
He lives in Bellingham, WA. where he serves as editor/publisher of Adventures NW magazine.
As a recovering commercial photographer specializing in advertising and public relations, Alan Sanders now concentrates on fine art photography. He currently teaches workshops at Whatcom Community College and is a digital imaging specialist at Quicksilver Photo Lab in Bellingham.
Alan has been making photographs since the 70’s and teaching photography since the 80’s. He also has taught at the University of Alaska Anchorage and Western Washington University.
