We stayed the pre-cruise night at the Rydges Esplanade and we would recommend the hotel as a standard service hotel. We ate at the Salthouse Restauarant which was divine.
Embarking relatively early at 11am was great, it meant we had time to unpack and settle in before our briefing and then get to know our fellow guests at Lunch. Our first Reef was Sudbury Reef where we had our first Glass Bottom Boat Tour. This was one of many as we enjoyed the reef without having to get wet! That night we dined like Kings on the Seafood Buffet that was commendable to the Galley crew.
We had a fantastic day on Pelorus Island where we were treated to a Beach BBQ. We where also guided on a short walk through the Tropical Vegitation and some of us ate the Green Ants for a Citrus tang added to their morning. The afternoon was spent listening to a presentation on the History of the Great Barrier Reef followed by Sundowners looking over the Eastern side of Hinchinbrook Island.
Day 3 Nathan Reef and Coates Reef
Another day another awesome Glass bottom Boat tour, this time at Nathan Reef by this point we are starting to get to know the fish and see a few Nemo fish too. The afternoon snorkel, dive, boat tour was at Coates Reef, another marine treat.
Day 4 Fitzroy Island
A guided walk was how we spent our morning, walking on the beach of the Resort Island of Fitzroy past the Rocky beach to the tropical rainforest and finish up at the Turtle Sanctuary on the Island to learn more about the conservation work. Back onboard we had lunch and made our back to Cairns for a 1:30pm disembarkation.
All in all the service and the food could not be faulted. The crew where attentive and had a great attitude. Inclusions for this cruise are: Snorkelling equipment (some wetsuits) Glass bottom boat tours, lectures by the Marine Biologists, Access to Islands and Marine and National Parks, Introductory Scuba skills sessions and post cruise transfer.
