North East Indonesian sailing

August 23, 2016

The trade winds are about to shift and we will soon be shifting our focus to the northeast, to the fabled Spice Islands and Raja Ampat, from September through to February. Never been, you say? There is plenty of time and ample cruises to remedy that.

There’s so much beauty out their on the high seas of Indonesia that we can easily get spoiled for choice when it comes to the many images we and our guests take. This month, however, this classic shot of the Ombak Putih at dusk off the island of Moyo by our recent guest, Constantin Hanke, just jumped off the memory stick and we had no choice but to share it.

SeaTrek Sailing Adventures in association with Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in Bali are pleased to announce that this year’s six-day, No Ordinary Journey Festival Cruise will be joined by none other than the famed American writer, Erica Jong, the author of the 1973’s blockbuster hit Fear of Flying.
In the company of Erica Jong and festival organiser, Janet DeNeefe, this exclusive leisure expedition will acquire an intimate literary lustre. Days spent snorkelling, wandering the beaches, and trekking through one of the most beautiful National Parks in Indonesia will be followed by starlit evenings of readings, yarns from the road, lessons learnt, frank talks and thoughtful conversations. Delectable Indonesian meals created and dished up by Australian-born, Balinese culinary expert, Janet DeNeefe, will come with a little bit of extra nourishment for the mind as well.
With space limited to 10 guests, and priced at only US$4,500, this is an incredible experience not to be missed.

Orangutans are a huge draw card for nature lovers the world over, and at SeaTrek we are offering not one, but two different length tours to Kalimantan in June 2017 to get up close and personal with these magnificent ‘men (and women) of the forest’. The first cruise is an 8-day journey led by primatologist, Rafaella Commitante, which sails up the eastern seaboard of Borneo, visiting the national park at Kutai, where she has spent many years researching the great apes. The second cruise is a 12-day mixed land and sea-based trip, entitles Orangutans and Dragons, that involves four days on a riverboat in central Kalimantan before flying to Bali to join our boat for a cruise to Komodo National Park.

Join SeaTrek Sailing Adventures this October 5-11 on an enchanted seven-day Yoga & Dragons adventure from Flores to Bali upon the majestic Katharina, a traditional, 6-cabin, Indonesian pinisi liveaboard, as we combine daily yoga and meditation, Komodo Dragons, surreal snorkeling on pristine coral reefs, cultural village visits and a whole lot of fun on an all-inclusive cruise under the tutelage of yoga instructor, Lia Gunawan.
