Raja Laut 10th Anniversary Indonesia and Burma

June 29, 2016

Dear Friends,
Raja Laut is presently located in Indonesia’s Komodo National Park. We feel very fortunate to be here in one of the world’s “7 wonders of nature”, and we are also are very proud to mark here the milestone of 10 years of Raja Laut sailing and diving adventures.
The schooner Raja Laut’s first ever voyage in the open sea began in July 2006. It was a sea trial starting from the east coast of Borneo, around the northern tip, to the port of Kota Kinabalu, on the South China Sea – a modest 4 day passage on which we could test the vessel’s performance.
Since then the schooner has journeyed far and wide, discovering phenomenal islands, bays and coral reefs, and meeting amazing people of Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines.
Over the last 10 years we have witnessed and learned what many before us know very well – that one week without a cell phone is a priceless therapy, that cyber connections can never measure up to physical ones, and that it is always better to start a voyage than to end one!
We would like to say thank you to all the friends we have made along the way, to all who have have sailed with us, and we look forward to the future and sharing our passion with you for another 10 years.
We owe and dedicate everything to boat builders, fellow boat owners, sailors and ocean farers everywhere, past and present, but especially to Georges Carraz, the extraordinary man who created the Raja Laut. Wherever you are sailing we wish you –
Fair winds,
Team Raja Laut
