Sawa-I-Lau Caves

Discover the very heart of the Yasawas, the majestic Sawa-I-Lau Caves, it’s really a place like no other! This is one of Mother Nature’s wonders that should not be missed if you are travelling to the Fiji Islands. The caves are located in the Blue Lagoon region in the northern Yasawa Islands. You’ll be amazed by the architecture of the caves – don’t forget an underwater camera as there are some dramatic shots when the light shines through the holes in the roof! This is truly a unique experience, if you feel brave enough you can even swim under water to explore a second cave which is very exciting! The Yasawa Flyer (a ‘yellow boat’) takes you to the Blue Lagoon from Port Denarau and most of the resorts in the area offer guided tours to visit the caves.

Kuata Island

So, you probably think that sharks are ‘terrifying’ ocean creatures? Well in Fiji, they’re actually very friendly and we know the perfect place where you can go snorkelling with them! The pristine coral reefs around Barefoot Kuata Island are ideal to enjoy superb snorkelling and encounter great marine life. The reef guides take you to a secret spot by boat where you can swim and get up close with two main shark species, the White Tip Reef Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks, exciting right? If you want to experience snorkelling with reef sharks yourself, South Sea Cruises offers day trips to Barefoot Kuata from Port Denarau.

Drawaqa Island

This island is absolutely a top spot to swim with the beautiful manta rays in their natural habitat! There are plenty of dive opportunities around Barefoot Manta resort as manta rays cruise past the island to feed during May to November. Trust me, you’ll feel tiny next to these underwater giants! Monuriki Island

You’ve probably seen this island on TV before. Remember Wilson? Monuriki, also known as Modriki Island is featured in the Tom Hanks movie ‘Cast Away’, but when you look at it you actually wonder what’s the big deal with being cast away on such paradisiac island. You can visit the island and even see the words ‘HELP ME’ written with coconut shells on a Seaspray Day Sailing Adventure. There’s no better way to explore the outer Mamanuca Islands than on board Seaspray, a classic old sailing schooner. They let you dive into the turquoise water for snorkelling and swimming as well… Heaven on Earth!

Blue Lagoon Beach

You cannot leave Fiji without visiting the famous Blue Lagoon! As you travel up the Yasawa chain of islands, you’ll notice the colour of the water turning to lighter shades of blue and turquoise which is a characteristic feature of the Blue Lagoon. It’s the real definition of ‘paradise’ with the clearest waters and best snorkelling straight off the beach!
