Malta – an impressive walled city
The Sea Cloud and the Sea Cloud ii sail under the Maltese flag, so what could be more fitting than to begin our birthday voyage in Valletta’s harbour. Malta’s capital will also be celebrating in 2016, as it marks the 450th anniversary of its birth as a fortified city. After the siege of the Ottomans, the Knights of Malta built mighty bastions that remain an impressive sight to this day.
A panorama for the Gods: Taormina
From Taormina, Mount Etna seems to be close enough to touch. This picturesque town sits on the cliffs high above the sea and offers outstanding views of the volcano and the deep-blue waters of the Gulf of Giardini Naxos. The charming streets of the old town are perfect to explore on foot. An exclusive evening in a private palazzo Sicily’s advantageous location in the Mediterranean has long made it a desirable conquest. Phoenicians, Greeks, Normans and the Hohenstaufens left their mark on the island, and Palermo’s palaces still paint a picture of the opulent lives the aristocracy once led. A private palazzo will be opening its gates for the guests of Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud ii for an exclusive evening filled with visual and musical treats.
